Superoxide dismutase protects the skin from harmful environmental influences

Natural antioxidant for a glowing skin

Gained from the Roxburgh rose (also known as Rosa roxburghii), the superoxide dismutase (SOD) could also be referred to as a natural shield for our cells. It is an enzyme that degrades harmful by-products of the oxygen metabolism to less aggressive molecules and thus helps protect the skin against attacks from the outside. Just like hydrogen peroxides, superoxides cause visible cell damage. This is why it is crucial to continuously control them through enzymes such as catalase. For this reason, superoxide dismutase is an important antioxidant used to effectively protect our cells every day from these attacks.

A welcome to glowing skin – Effectiveness and application of SOD

Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is a powerful antioxidant that preserves the youthfulness of the skin, protects it from environmental influences and reduces inflammations. The natural health of the skin is maintained and this becomes visible by its fresh and rosy glow. These benefits make SOD an indispensable component of daily cosmetic products such as creams, lotions, face packs, gels and ampoules for extensive skin care.

We gain our SOD from the Roxburgh rose (Rosa roxburghii), also known as chestnut rose – a wild rose species from China. It serves as a reliable source of precious antioxidants and is traditionally used to fight acne and in anti-aging skin care products.
